So, we just had the first round of auditions for our first-ever STAGES Musical yesterday, and WOW was that fun! Hollye, Alexandra, Sarah and I got to meet a group of fantastically brave (more on that later) and talented kids from the area who are enrolled in our Fall Musical class series. We heard a wide variety of audition songs from The Brady Bunch Theme Song to a snazzy selection of tunes from High School Musical -- and enjoyed every single one of them.
I have to say -- it is a very difficult thing to audition for a show. It can be terrifying even for veteran performers to walk into that room and perform for a group of people they've never met before. And even though we tried to make the audition fun and accessible and as low-stress as possible for all of our students, it is still an audition -- it's still one person coming into a room and giving it their all for people they've never met. Scary!
So with that in mind, I am even MORE impressed with the young people who came through our doors yesterday. Talent and charm and enthusiasm aside -- you all were BRAVE! :) We are so thrilled to be working with all of our new friends!
Callbacks and a few more auditions happen this week and the final casting will be done on or before Friday of this week. Hang in there everyone, and remember the scariest part is over -- the audition is behind you, the fun stuff is ahead!
Everyone else -- stay tuned for information and details about where you can see these talented kids in our first musical production ever -- ONCE ON THIS ISLAND -- coming in November!
Bravo!
